So You Think You’re A Writer?

I have been writing for over 50 years, and in recent years writing for the web. I know I have talent, because I make a pretty decent living at it. At least I thought I was a good writer until the other day.
My Senior Editor dropped me a quick note with a hurry-scurry request for 3 articles by Friday. I had told him I was going on an extended working vacation, and he wanted them like yesterday. I tend to placate him, as he is my bread and butter, so agreed. I asked him what guidelines he wished me to use for the articles, and he told me to use standard AP guidelines.
I scratched my head a bit, and then said “Oh yeah, Associated Press!” I had a little time on my hands waiting for confirmation, so strolled on over to Newsroom 101. I came away from there a humbled man.
If you are writing for the web, check these guys out. They have a lot of exercises in grammar, style, and even confusable words, and you can take these exercises to see if you are up to snuff. You’ll thank me in the end. I was so impressed with their site I sent them a donation…
Peace,
Charlie~
