Tricks of the Trade

Just when ya think you know it all, something new pops up. I have been working on a website upgrade for Rosie, for her site Bella Grande. Ran into some trouble making the background acceptable, because she is such an anal retentive and needs things “just so.” It is maddening at times. Her theme is black and white polka dots, and she is obsessed with it. Spent the better half of Saturday working on it. I found a solution, posted here. The solution, although probably not what real Photoshop afficandios would recommend, worked. And that is all I care about…
Things are going slow. I have been a member of Bum Marketers for a while, and it seems every time I log in, there is no real news. I have been patiently waiting for updates on CPA tricks of the trade, and the wait is excruciating for an old man living on borrowed time. Dane Morgan’s project blog is getting a revamp, so I am stalled there. I suppose I could just go ahead, but Dane has a lot of expertise in this area, and I want to follow along. He re-did the site, and it is much more navigable and efficient. Kudos to Dane.
I am taking a good, long look at my marketing biz, and see that it needs to be revamped. I have suffered in the past with information overload, and, being ADHD, it can be a real pain in the ass. Now, I have unsubed from just about every mailing list, and am glad I did. Hell, I don’t even know what MME3 is. Ain’t that great? According to everyone, it is the next best thing since sliced bread. Yeah, right!
I am taking a much needed break this week. I am going to Indiana to visit my son and his lovely wife, Sara. Sara is the apple of an old man’s eye, and I am really looking forward to an extended visit with her and Nick. We are all very close, but they live about 350 miles from me, and my driving is getting pretty faulty along with my eyesight, so I don’t see them as often as I want to. I may stay all summer. Rosie is so busy with her store that she just hasn’t the time or inclination to drive me down. And I hate being dependent of any one. But my other son Nathan’s wife is giving birth to her first, and they are inducing labor this morning. Rosie is on her way to Grand Rapids, and I am left to my devices. Nick is coming up later this week, so I will ride back with him. I may just have to sneak across the road to Player’s, and have a couple cool ones and a great cheeseburger for lunch. That, my friends, is the joy of being an internet marketer. You can do that when ya want…
I am happy to say that the days of the big, expensive launches are becoming few and far between. the best deals I have gotten lately have been through the folks running Jon Leger’s 7 dollar script. I have made a very small investment in this program, and have purchased a template maker for it, and am very pleased with the results. I am a fool for these 7 dollar offerings. For the price of a 6 pack, I can move my biz forward, and the guys offering these deals are giving a lot of information for the price of a small pizza. It is more in line with what marketing should be about, IMHO. Although the development of some software programs and other apps may be on the high side, any decent programmer can sit down and build an app in a short while. Selling it for 7 bucks only makes good sense. Check it out…
One thing I have learned about marketing - if you don’t stay on top of what is new, then you get left behind. The idea is a double edged sword, however. If you allow yourself to get on information overload, then you may find your self sitting in the dirt, wondering what happened. Food for thought…
Peace,
Charlie~
