The Case For Free Webhosting

I am currently reading The Web 3.0 Resource Guide by Dr. Ron Capps. It takes a bit of wading through, but it gives the serious marketer a lot of good information. Having this resource guide is one of the bennies of belonging to Rich Jerks.com, and I always am appreciative of the many things I get for membership to the site. One of things Dr. Capps recommends is the usage of free webhosting to help promote your sales site.

I have been involved with Emerald Nova this past week. While searching for information on my last post about WP 2.3 and the issues I came across while trying to get tags to work in the new upgrade, I ran across Emerald Nova. It is owned and operated by Rich Gilchrest, who was kind enough to document the process of adding tags to the new install.

Since I have been a big fan of Wordpress for a long time, I found it only natural to start a free blog there. I am using it to promote my site Top Surveys For You, and will link to the site from the blog in a one way link.

This may sound a waste of time to many. Why put a blog on a free site? Here’s why - I get free hosting at a different IP. It utilizes WP Mu for a platform. It has an abundance of plugins - some of which I have downloaded to use on other blogs. It has a huge variety of themes, and is very user friendly. Dr. Capps recommends using these sites to promote your sales page or promotion site, and it makes good sense. You will also be linking from a site that has many blogs on it, and the chance for good PR are very good indeed.

If we are not willing to try new things, or put a little extra effort into our marketing, then we will fail, as 95% of new marketers do. I, for one, am not planning on failure as an option…

Drive on,

Charlie~

    Wordpress Themes…

Are there any more sites, which offer free wordpress themes? I am not sure, but is it expensive to order someone to design a custom theme for my own?…
