Squidoo - Social Bookmarking At It’s Best

I have held the opinion that social bookmarking is for the “warm & fuzzy” crowd - grandma’s with nothing to do, teenage girls with zits and raging hormones, and any other kind of goofball you might happen to mention. Because Google is the big dog, let us do it their way…
It shows you how wrong and opinionated you can be. i was challenged this year by a colleague named Paul Duxbury to check out Squidoo and see what can be done with it. I gave it a half hearted try at the end of last year, and didn’t see much results…
Being a freelancer, there are times when I am not especially busy, and can pursue some of the things I put on the back burner to do when not writing. I have mentioned that I was taking an interest in social bookmarking this year, ala Web 2.0, and have been working on a Squidoo lens related to the bum marketing method. Surprise, surprise!
The lens, created on April 2, 2007, has languished in the doldrums for a spell. Lat week I decided to do something with it, and have seen a jump in popularity for this lens that is astounding.
Currently, the lens is in the 3 8 position on Google, and is ranked #371 in SEO & Affiliate Marketing. Not bad for a week’s worth of work. All I have done is optimize the page using a strategy taught by Paul, and have posted a few 2-300 word comments on the subject. Ya gotta love Squidoo…
Peace,
Charlie~
