Google Page Rank - An Update

I’m hearing through the grapevine that Google is kicking butt again.  It seems some sites have lost page rank, and are not too happy about it.  It is my belief that a great deal of what we will be hearing will be pure speculation, and that a lot of people are going to jump on this as an opportunity.

Although I like to see good page rank for a site I have invested a lot of time in, I sincerely do not believe that it is the only way that a site can be considered an authority.  I have seen high PR sites that I wouldn’t spend 2 minutes on, and have come across sites w/ zero PR that I have really liked.  It is all in what you prefer.

I ain’t gonna crawl off into bed tonight and lay awake agonizing over PR.  I think the people that will get hit are those that are doing things just for PR.   As a writer, I find a lot of issues with the quality of the marketers today.  I find I buy nothing from the big guns, and generally spend some money on the little guys, where the bang for the buck is the greatest.  Since I have quit following the “goo-roos” I have seen my income increase dramatically.  It tells me that something is not quite right here.  Perhaps it all has to do with such things as high PR sites selling text links for an inflated price.  I know from research that Google is out to get these sites, and I think that in their search for excellence, will make the internet a kinder and friendlier place.

I’ve never placed much relevance on PR.  Why start now?  If what I hear today has any truth to it, then my sites didn’t suffer.  And I see that as a good thing.  I try to provide as best I can relevant information on a variety of subjects.  That, to this old Coon, is what the internet is all about.

drive on…

Peace,

Charlie~
