Google Adsense: Using Google Adsense Without a Website

Ofttimes on the forums, new internet marketers raise the questions of Google Adsense and bemoan the fact that they do not have a website yet. Setting up a website can be difficult for a new marketer - formatting, optimizing for the engines, driving traffic, etc. There is some good news, however, and we attempt to address them here…

You don’t have to have your own website to use Google Adsense. Google doesn’t usually approve personal pages but that is not written in stone. I have yet to see a site that wasn’t approved as long as it met Google’s TOS. Hate sites, porn sites, and sites that sell firearms, etc, will of course be excluded, but others that do not fall into these categories will be approved. Consult Google Adsense support pages for more information on what kinds of pages are acceptable. If selling a product or service doesn’t appeal to you, consider blogging.

Blogging initially meant web log but has gradually come into its own. There are as many different kinds of blogs as there are blogs themselves. A blog can be like a cyberjournal in that you make daily “journal” entries or it can be more like a newsletter set up to inform or communicate with other people. There are several blogging sites in cyberspace that will allow you to create your own blog pages and have targeted Google Adsense ads running on them.

A few of the most popular :

- Writingup.com
- Blogger.com
- Bloggerparty.com

You can also search blogsearch.google.com for an extensive list of blogs. Not all of these carry Google Adsense ads, but if you’re going to write a blog you may as well make some money at it. The best resource I can recommend is Blogger. It is easy to set up, easy to maintain, and the “Blog It” feature of Blogger is a real boon to folks having difficulty finding decent content to post to their sites. I have a lot of Blogger accounts, and use this feature daily to provide fresh content to my blogs.

How to Promote Your Blog

Always promote your blog. You could write the great American novel, but if there’s little or no traffic to your site, you may as well be on the moon. (Not only that, but no one will know what a great writer you are ;>)

There’s several ways to promote your blog.

- Include the URL in your email signature. Now you’ve just invited everyone you email to read your blog.
- Link to other sites and ask the webmasters to link to yours. Reciprocal links are a good way to get established with the search engines.
- Read other blogs and notice who is getting the most reads and comments. What are they writing about?
- Comment on other people’s blogs, but only if your comments are sincere and relevant. No one wants their blogs spammed with links to porn sites, drugstores, and gambling casinos! This will increase your overall traffic as you will pique others’ curiosity and they will want to read your blogs.
- Write a newsletter and offer a free email subscription to your blog. A sign up form can be easily made using the free wizards available online. I recommend, though, that you offer your readers an incentive in the form of a free ebook, special report, or some similar commodity. If you are a relative unknown, this can mean the difference between an interested reader, or a click away.
- Put a Referral button on your site.
- Put an Adsense for Search button on your site.
- Join a program such as Traffic Swarm, and use this to promote your blog. Traffic Swarm is a free site, and is a good way to begin to get clicks to your offer page.

Try these simple things, and soon you will see traffic to your site, clicks on your Google ads, and cash in your pocket. it don’t get any better than that…

Peace,

Charlie~
