Solving The Spam Problem

I’m spending time in Indiana with my kids this week, and haven’t done much IM, but am really glad for the opportunity to visit with Nick & Sara.  I don’t have access to a lot of my marketing tools, and it is just as well.  My blood pressure this AM was 97/47, and I am a happy man.

I did, however, do a bit of research and for what it is worth, have found a site that is helpful indeed.  Spam, as everyone knows, is a real problem on the web.  They just hauled some cat into court not long ago, the supposed king of spam, and it was said that spam would decrease with him behind bars.  Yeah, right!  Sameo, samoe for me as I expect it to be.  Tonight, I deleted 856 spam messages from the FTR blog.  Thanks to Askimet, I am able to stop a lot of the spam comments, but a lot still slip through.  I would like to have the blog set up for instant comments, but canot afford the spam content I get on a daily basis.  Askimet tells me it has stopped 37, 483 spam comments since installation.  Some still gets by, and it pisses me off, big time.

I visited a site tonight that will help the average marketer to overcome a lot of spam issues.  ReCaptcha is designed to help people out, and I have encoded my primary email address and will  be implementing it on my return to MI.  It encodes your email address so that people have to use a captcha system to contact you, and it will be great on some of my marketing sites.  Time will tell…

Peace,

Charlie~
